Do the Timberwolves have three All-Stars? Chris Finch thinks so

All-Star reserves will be announced Thursday night.

The NBA All-Star Game reserves will be announced Thursday night at 6 p.m. on TNT, and the Timberwolves have three players who could garner All-Star selections.

While Anthony Edwards was not among the All-Star starters announced last week, he’s all but assured to be among the All-Star reserves.

Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert both have strong cases to be in the lineup, as well, particularly being key pieces on a team that’s been atop the Western Conference standings for most of the season.

If you ask Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, all three should make the cut.

“I feel with Rudy’s defense anchoring the No. 1 defense in the league and playing at a high level, has had a major offensive impact, too. KAT’s 40-50-90 (shooting percentage from the field, 3-point range and free-throw line). Ant’s definitely playing at an All-Star level. I think we have three All-Star level players for sure,” he said. “Hope we will be able to be recognized for the work that they've done.”

Finch, meanwhile, is likely to be the top contender to coach the Western Conference in the All-Star Game with his team riding high atop the conference. The coaches for the two All-Star teams are expected to be announced by Sunday at the latest.

“It’d be a heck of an honor, for sure,” said Finch when asked about the possibility. “For myself, for the organization, but it’ll also be just like any other individual accolade is a reflection of the success the team’s having, which is the most important thing right now. We got a couple more games to go before that’s all decided I believe. That’s what’s most important in a really tight race is that we win those games, and everything that comes with that is a bonus.”
