Wolves sign Lance Stephenson to G-League roster

Timberwolves have an open roster spot available

Lance Stephenson is set for a Minnesota return.

The 11-year NBA vet has been signed to the Wolves' G-League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, the team confirmed on Monday. Minnesota has an open NBA roster spot available, leaving open the possibility of Stephenson joining the Wolves at some point this season.

Stephenson most recently played professionally for Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico. His last stint in the NBA was with the Indiana Pacers, for whom he played 40 games and averaged 9.3 points and 3.9 assists per game.

The 33-year-old has played 11 seasons in the NBA with eight teams after being drafted 40th overall by the Pacers in 2010. Stephenson had a six-game stint with Minnesota in February and March of 2017, averaging 3.5 points and 0.8 assists per game.

Over the span of his 11 years in the NBA, Stephenson has averaged 8.6 points and 2.9 assists per game. The guard's high point came in 2013-14 when he helped Indiana to a 56-26 record and first place in the Eastern Conference. Stephenson led the league in triple-doubles (5) and produced the sixth-most defensive win shares (4.8) that season.
