Kyrie Irving's Strong Statement on Steph Curry After Warriors vs. Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Golden State Warriors

Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving have played some incredible battles over the years. Facing off in that incredible 2016 NBA Finals series, the two star point guards went head-to-head on the game's biggest stage, and have had several battles since then.

Following Friday night's game between the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks, Irving was asked about Curry, and said, "I just show respect to the guys like that. He has put in a ton of work in our league. He has set the bar for a lot of us point guards of where we want to be, we are still chasing his legacy. It's inevitable as a competitor to want to play well against somebody like that. He brings the best out of you. He's gonna come in and do Steph Curry things... For me, I've tried to take some of his strengths that he does well and incorporate them into my game... There's definitely mutual respect."

Irving has a lot of respect for Curry, and is one of the most outspoken players in the league when it comes to supporting his fellow competitors. Always insightful, Irving spoke extensively on the respect he has for Curry and the battles they have shared over the years.

The Mavericks came away with a much needed victory in this game, defeating Golden State without Luka Doncic.
