The Dallas Mavericks are facing the Golden State Warriors again on Friday night, and star guard Luka Doncic is being listed as doubtful on the injury report with right knee soreness.
Dallas fell to the Golden State Warriors earlier this week, but still maintain a four-game lead over them in the Western Conference standings. Trying to hold onto the 5th seed, Dallas enters this game just one game better than the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans. Dallas is also holding out hope that they can run down the LA Clippers for 4th, who are two games ahead of them in the standings entering Friday night's game.
Some very strong play for the Mavericks to close the season has put them in position to escape the play-in tournament, as they were at one point staring at that fate. For the Warriors, they are almost certain to finish in the play-in tournament, but their hope is that they can climb a bit higher than 10th, which is where they currently sit.
All of this sets the stage for a very important battle between Dallas and Golden State on Friday night, as both teams have a lot to play for. The status of Doncic will certainly be one to follow, as Dallas is understandably very reliant on their MVP candidate. As of right now, the star guard is being listed as doubtful with right knee soreness.
