Golden State Warriors Champion Announces Retirement From Basketball

Golden State Warriors champion Nemanja Bjelica is retiring

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), 2022 NBA champion Nemanja Bjelica announced his retirement from the game of basketball. The Golden State Warriors champion shared a long statement that began with the following:

"Lately I have read several official announcements by professional athletes talking about the end of their careers. That got me thinking that when the time comes, I would personally try to avoid such a moment, as I have always been a private person and have tried to keep my media appearances short and only related to basketball. Somewhere not long ago I read that no one has ever won a race against time. Over the last years I have become fully aware of that. Even now, after 20 years devoting myself to the game, I feel the need to officially announce that the end has come."

Bjelica included a thank you to both the Warriors organization and their late assistant coach Dejan Milojevic, adding the following:

"To all the others that in different stages on my basketball path have supported me and contributed to the development of my career, including several teammates and friends, like Sead Galijasevic, Dusan Sajic, doctor Gaga Radovanovic, Bata Zimonjic, the lately passed Dejan Milojevic, Srdjan Nedeljkovic, Aca Matovic, Aleksandar Kesar, Filip Volsek and many others. I would also like to thank the National Team of Serbia, basketball clubs Crvena Zvezda, Fenerbahçe and Golden State Warriors."

Bjelica had a great career, and now walks away from basketball into a new chapter of life.
