Lakers Player Gets Honest About Defending Steph Curry

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves didn't like chasing Steph Curry around

The Los Angeles Lakers eliminated the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semi-Finals, and Lakers guard Austin Reaves recently opened up about what it was like defending Steph Curry during that series. During a recent episode of Showtime Basketball's All The Smoke podcast, Reaves revealed what it was like having to chase Curry around.

"It's honestly hell," Reaves said of guarding Curry. "The way he moves without the ball is the worst part... It's honestly their system, too. It fits him to perfection. You literally can't ever relax. I remember Game 1 and 2 chasing him and Klay around, and I couldn't make a shot. Everybody is looking at me like why can't you make a shot, and I'm like I ain't got no legs. [Curry's] approach to the game too is special, just the way he sees the game and the way he goes about the game, it was a lot of fun to play them. Obviously happy we won, but it's hell to guard him."

So many players have shared stories like this, explaining the way Curry's movement makes him that much more difficult to defend. Already one of the game's most lethal on-ball weapons, Curry's movement off the ball makes him a matchup nightmare for any opposing defender he lines up against.

While the Lakers won the series, Reaves certainly had a tough time chasing Curry around.
