Warriors Owner Shuts Down Major Narrative

The Golden State Warriors only have one timeline.

For the past few years, many Warriors fans like there were two timelines going on with the team. On one end, they end wanted to build on their younger players like Jonathan Kuminga and Jordan Poole. On the other end, they wanted to capitalize on having Steph Curry and win now. It turns out, there was only one timeline.

Warriors owner Joe Lacob conducted an interview with Madeline Kenney of the Bay Area News Group where he discussed the actual timeline the Warriors have been following.

“There’s no such thing as the two timelines,” Lacob told the Bay Area News Group. “There never was and still isn’t and never will be. There’s only one timeline, and the timeline is every year to put the best product on the floor, to have the best team, to compete the best you can to win a championship.”

As it turns out, the Warriors proved that to be true when they traded away Jordan Poole for Chris Paul. Not only is Poole gone, but the Warriors already also traded James Wiseman for Gary Payton II. Golden State's youth movement is all but a distant memory, with only Jonathan Kuminga remaining. Still, it's a huge gamble to ship off Jordan Poole for Chris Paul, as Poole was a major reason why the team won an NBA Championship in 2022. Regardless, the Warriors are now one of the oldest and most veteran teams in the NBA.
