Injury Update: Kyrie Irving OUT

Kyrie Irving is out tonight against the Washington Wizards

Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Jason Kidd shared in pregame media availability that Kyrie Irving will be out tonight against the Wizards. He is sitting out to nurse a left foot injury.

Kidd spoke about Dante Exum’s impact on the team on both ends and expanded role tonight with Irving out.

As Inside the Wizards Staff Writer Tyrone Montgomery said in his game day preview of the Wizards and Mavericks contest::

The bottom line is the Wizards are outmatched in this game. Even without Kyrie Irving, playing against Luka Doncic is a problem for everyone in the league. Head Coach Kidd spoke about the expanded role for Dante Exum. This may be a game that role players feel is an opportunity to have a great game.

Montgomery also states that Grant Williams is one of the best shooters in the league. Tim Hardaway Jr. is one of the most underrated players and scorers in the league. The Mavericks’ rookie Dereck Lively ll is going to be one of the best bigs in the NBA soon. The Wizards will have to make a decision as to who will be the X-Factor for the Mavericks.

The Wizards are without the defensive skillset of Delon Wright who was extremely beneficial for the team against the Mavericks last season. Someone will need to step up in his absence.

Perhaps this could be an opportunity for the rookie Bilal Coulibaly?

Will both Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole have a more than impressive night on the scoreboard in front of the home crowd?

All of this and more will need to happen in order to defeat the Dallas Mavericks this evening.
