Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck could exceed Colin Kaepernick's contract with new deals

Wednesday afternoon San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was rewarded with one of the most lucrative contracts in NFL history following two straight trips to the NFC Championship Game plus a Super Bowl appearance.

However, he's not the only successful young quarterback in the game today, and two of them will also be looking for new deals in the very near future -- the Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson and the Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck.

And according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, both of those young stars could surpass what Kaepernick was given by the 49ers (an average of $21M per year) on Wednesday.

Bargaining wise, both hold distinct advantages over Kaepernick.

Wilson, Kaepernick's biggest rival on the field, has of course his recent Super Bowl ring to bring to the table, while Luck is quickly becoming one of the most productive quarterbacks in the game. In two seasons as a starter since arriving in the NFL, the face of the Colts' franchise has thrown for over 8,000 yards and 46 touchdowns, significantly better numbers than Kaepernick. Luck also has led his team to consecutive playoff appearances.
