Multiple teams are believed to be interested in 49ers guard Alex Boone, who is currently holding out, according to ESPN.com's Bill Williamson on Saturday.

Report: 49ers 'bracing' for 6-8 game suspension for Aldon Smith

The teams are "preparing to approach the 49ers about their interest" in the 27-year-old, Williamson reports. Boone signed a five-year deal with the 49ers in 2011, when he was a backup, but he is now a consistent starter.

The two sides are not close to a contract extension, and Boone is prepared to stay away from the team until he gets a new deal, according to Williamson. Boone, who can also play tackle, has two years left on his contract.

Among the teams interested in Boone are the Buccaneers and Giants, Williamson reports.

Third-year man Joe Looney, who filled in for Boone in Thursday's preseason game in Baltimore, struggled, according to Williamson.
