The Giants will likely place guard Geoff Schwartz on short-term injured reserve. Schwartz dislocated his right big toe in the Giants' preseason game against the Jets on Aug. 22.
Schwartz signed a four-year contract with the Giants this offseason.
The Giants have several changes on the offensive line this season. Kevin Boothe signed with the Raiders as a free agent; David Diehl and Chris Snee both retired; and David Baas was released after failing a physical. Tackles Will Beatty and Justin Pugh are returning this season.
With Schwartz sidelined, rookie Weston Richburg, a second-round pick from Colorado State, will start at left guard.
If Schwartz is placed on short-term IR, he would be eligible to return for New York's Week 9 game against the Colts on Monday Night Football.
