Ward Says Browns Can't Just Pick Up Where They Left Off In 2024

Cleveland superstar cornerback Denzel Ward met with the media on Monday and talked about how this team understands that 2024 is a brand new season.

Career Ohioan Denzel Ward is entering his seventh season in the orange and brown. It's hard to believe that "The Warden" is now among the veterans that the Cleveland Browns have on its roster leading them into the 2024 season.

On Tuesday, Ward met with the media as the team returned to Berea for the start of Organized Team Activities. His veteran wisdom was on full display when discussing the team's outlook on 2024.

"I think we all kind of realize that we can’t just think that we could just pick up where we left off from last year, but just gotta pick it up and still start over," said Ward.

One of the aspects that makes the NFL the best league in all of sports is that each year is truly a brand new campaign from top to bottom. No team is ever the same and no matter what happened the year prior, the next year is independent from the previous season.

Ward and this defense know that and understand that the responsibility is on them to re-discover the magic which carried them to the unprecedented success of 2023.

The Cleveland Browns story of 2023 starts and ends with the defense that Cleveland put on display. That defense was one of the best in the league and for stretches of the season was on pace to be one of the best defenses in the history of the NFL.

Moving into 2024, Cleveland will try to emulate what they had last year. If the Browns can find better injury luck on the offensive side of the football and get even half of what the defense was able to provide, then things could bode well for the team's future success. They also have the roster to be one of the best teams in the entire league. Finding that magic starts now.
