Cardinals Lose First Free Agent of 2024

The Arizona Cardinals are losing Leki Fotu to the New York Jets.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals brought in a handful of new faces yesterday while also re-signing some familiar names at the start of free agency, though the team has now lost their first free agent in DL Leki Fotu.

Fotu is reportedly signing with the New York Jets, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Fotu entered the league as a fourth-round pick by the Cardinals in 2020. He had played 56 games for the Cardinals in that time with 89 tackles, one forced fumble and 3.5 career sacks.

He played double digit games for Arizona each of his four years with the team. He started nine games for Arizona in 2022 and 2023.

Fotu was part of a heavy defensive line rotation for the Cardinals last season, playing 40% of snaps while also contributing to special teams with 23% of snaps played in that phase.

Fotu - who will be 26 by the start of next season - joins Javon Kinlaw as recent interior defensive line signings for New York. Financials of the deal are not known at this time.

The Cardinals yesterday signed two defensive linemen in Bilal Nichols and Justin Jones. They also brought in LB Mack Wilson and CB Sean Murphy-Bunting.
