Insider: Cardinals Likely Won't Pass on Marvin Harrison Jr.

Albert Breer says he has a hard time seeing the Arizona Cardinals bypassing Marvin Harrison Jr. in the 2024 NFL Draft.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are favored by many to select Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the fit makes sense for a handful of reasons.

The Cardinals need a true playmaker at wideout - regardless of the status of Harrison - and what better way to plug that gap than nabbing one of the best prospects in the entire draft?

It's a rare scenario where fit and best player available would intersect for a team, though many have also speculated the Cardinals could trade back.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer says he'd have a tough time imagining that scenario if Harrison is on the board:

"Harrison met with nine teams total and went through medicals while declining to take part in on-field drills or physical testing. He actually did ask a couple teams if there’s anything they’d need to see at his pro day in Columbus, Ohio, later this month. One I talked to laughed at the notion," Breer said.

"So right now, I’d pencil him in as the fourth pick to the Arizona Cardinals. One former colleague of Monti Ossenfort told me that Harrison is a wheelhouse sort of prospect for the Cardinals GM, the way Harrison’s ex-teammate Paris Johnson Jr. was last year. Both are very clean character-wise, and a height-weight-speed dynamo. Maybe Harrison goes before the Cardinals pick. I have a hard time seeing him get past them."

Arizona also met with Washington Huskies WR Rome Odunze at the Combine, who could go in the top ten as well.

The Cardinals certainly have their options near the top of the order, though Arizona could again opt to trade out and acquire more draft capital similar to what they did last year.

There's a lot of smoke about them doing just that, which you can read below:
