There's no question that Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert will be their quarterback for the rest of his career. Herbert is one of the rising young quarterbacks in the league, with tons of promise and showing he is here to stay.

Herbert will at least stay for his fifth year, as the team picked up his fifth-year option worth $29.5 million, but he is hoping for a bit more moving forward. Contract negotiations between the 25-year-old and the organization have been in the works. Chargers head coach Brandon Staley reassured fans that it is only a matter of time before a contract gets done with his star QB, he told Chargers insider Jeff Miller.

#Chargers HC Brandon Staley offered this Saturday regarding QB Justin Herbert's extension: "Everybody knows where we're headed. Everybody knows how we feel about him."

Other young quarterbacks got well-deserved money in Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts. There is no doubt Herbert and his team are using that as leverage. According to sources, both sides would love to get a deal done prior to the start of the season, and all signs point to that.

Although he wants his money, Herbert told reporters that he leaves the business side to his agents.

“I kind of leave it up to the people who I hired to work on my behalf because they’re the experts. But obviously providing your input and making sure that everyone knows exactly what you would like from the situation is important,” Herbert said.

Through three seasons, the righty slinger has put up big numbers already. The former first-round pick has completed 67% of his passes, 14089 passing yards, and 94 touchdowns in 49 games. The 2020 Rookie of the Year will get his money, and it might become the biggest contract in NFL History.
