Chargers News: New Trade Proposal Has Khalil Mack Landing With NFC Super Bowl Hopeful

The Chargers may have to trade Khalil Mack, and a new trade proposal has him landing with a Super Bowl hopeful.

Though the hope for most NFL teams is that their core players are not cap room casualties or disgruntled players, that is not always the case. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Chargers find themselves in a precarious position based on their cap room issues.

The Chargers are near the bottom of the list with -$35 million cap space for 2024. While they can make some moves to greatly lessen that amount, it will still place the team in a tough position to secure star players.

One such player is star linebacker Khalil Mack. While the team will hope to keep Mack on the roster, his contract might be too hefty, resulting in him being shopped around.

PFF has a good idea about where Mack might end up, which is with the Detroit Lions. According to PFF's trade, Mack would be shipped to the NFC for a 2025 fourth-round pick.

Though Mack is 32 years old, he did manage to land a career-high 17 sacks. He has proven that he has plenty left in the tank, and a 2025 fourth-round pick is a little low. We imagine the Chargers' front office would get at least a third and fourth-rounder for Mack.

Anything less would be a bit of a misstep by new GM Joe Hortiz. Harbaugh wants physical players, and no one is more physical than Mack.
