Chargers News: Potential Bolts Draft Target Opts Out Of NFL Combine

He's out!

As many of the expected top draft picks at this year's NFL Combine have done before him, Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers has decided he will not partake in the event, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Bowers is not alone in this game plan. USC Trojans Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, UNC Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye, and LSU play caller Jayden Daniels will also not partake. Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers also do not intend to run.

Bowers, a three-time All-American (and a unanimous selection last year), a two-time CFP national champion and a two-time John Mackey Award winner, has long been floated as a very possible fit for the Chargers.

LA is in desperate need of some major help around Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert, a tantalizing talent who has yet to fully realize his physical gifts on the field. New Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh hopes to unlock that, and new Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz will be tasked with putting the young pieces together in this year's draft and free agency. The club also has a bloated collection of salaries that it will have to offload, should it want to get under the salary cap this year.
