In many past NFL drafts, it was always advised to teams selecting in the first round to address other needs than a running back to start off. The reason for this was that many experts have not viewed recent classes of RB's as generational and front offices don't necessarily like to make them focal points of offenses.

However, things are looking quite different in 2023 and Texas' own Bijan Robinson is leading the charge. Having been named a unanimous All-American, finishing top ten in Heisman trophy voting, and bringing home multiple Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week awards in his final college season, he brings forth quite the resume.

The Chargers were floating around these last few months as potential suitor for the young prospect but they became favorites once Austin Ekeler voiced he could want out of the franchise. Multiple draft boards have had him going number 21 to LA and ESPN's Jordan Reid explained why this is the case.

"If they want to go for a homerun swing, that's why I put Bijan Robinson there," Reid said. "I think he instantly takes this offense to another level just because you're not only getting value with him as a running back, but he's going to change your passing game as well. I think Bijan Robinson can help them not only from a rushing perspective but also in the receiving aspect, too."

There has been a lot of talk from Chargers executives themselves that the team could potentially opt to trade down in the draft and get some extra picks in later rounds. However, Reid gives quite the argument as to why they should take a hard look at Robinson and maybe stick with him if he's available.

The 21-year-old certainly won't still be on the board once round two rolls around and he possesses all the potential there is.
