Commanders Get Draft Advice With No. 2 Overall Selection: 'Just Pick The Quarterback!'

The Washington Commanders hold the No. 2 overall pick, and Good Morning Football's Kyle Brandt has offered his advice to the franchise regarding what they should do with the coveted pick.

It all seems simple enough for the Washington Commanders as they enter the NFL Draft armed with the No. 2 overall pick - select one of a host of talented quarterbacks to spearhead their new regime.

With several off-field changes happening with coaching personnel, coupled with Washington's busy free agency period, the franchise has hit the ground running as they look to turn the ship around.

Taking a quarterback seems logical for Washington after trading away Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks, and after Marcus Mariota was signed via free agency, all signs point to the franchise adding a new quarterback.

But there have been rumors that Washington could be open to offers for the No. 2 pick, but Good Morning Football's Kyle Brandt has given the Commanders some advice regarding what to do with their coveted pick.

“You got the second pick, now there might be some sort of psychopath who decides to give you the next decade of picks to get the two and that would be incredible, but my god, pick the quarterback,” Brandt said on Good Morning Football. “Just pick it. New organization, new owner, and all that, you gotta have a new quarterback.”

LSU's Jayden Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye have been touted as the two main options for Washington, but at the NFL Owners Meeting, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero stated that the Commanders could take Michigan's J.J. McCarthy after talking with several executives.

That would throw a spanner in the NFL Draft's works and would then likely see a shift in what teams below Washington do.

With good free agency signings, the Commanders have improved both the offensive and defensive lines, while adding running back Austin Ekeler to pair with Brian Robinson Jr., things are looking good for whichever quarterback comes in.

Brandt has stated Washington simply has to take a quarterback at No. 2, but after Pelissero's comments, an even bigger issue has potentially arisen - which one?
