Cowboys Price for 'Sliding' Bijan Robinson: Would Dallas Trade Top 2 Picks for Longhorns RB?

The price to go to the No. 9 spot, according to most Trade Value Charts, is No. 26, plus Dallas' second-rounder, plus Dallas' third-rounder ... and maybe more. But what if Bijan slides in this NFL Draft?

FRISCO - Finally, a Bijan Robinson trade to the Dallas Cowboys that we can get behind? And why? Because we think an ESPN proposal that makes a connection between "America's Team'' and the Texas Longhorns star running back has the price way, way wrong. ... But in Dallas' favor.

The move up for the Cowboys to get Bijan is possible; Dallas certainly likes the player, as does every other team in the NFL. He is a high-first-round talent, and when I recently compared the 6-0, 220-pound Robinson to Saquon Barkley, a scouting mind who knows his Longhorns said I got it wrong.

"Bijan is a bigger Barry Sanders,'' my guy said, in what might be the most flattering comp in NFL scouting history.

If either of those comps is true, Robinson is a threat to go in the top 10 in Thursday's NFL Draft. And what is the Cowboys' price to jump that high, from No. 26 in the first round, to nab their back of the future?

The price to go to the No. 9 spot, according to most Trade Value Charts, is No. 26, plus Dallas' second-rounder, plus Dallas' third-rounder ... and maybe more.

So this ESPN trade proposal has it all wrong, right? ... Because Bill Barnwell is suggesting all Dallas really needs to give up is No. 26 and No. 58 (plus a throwaway 2025 fifth-round pick). How can that be?

It can be if Bijan slides, as Barnwell's trade idea is predicated on the notion that Robinson will still be available at pick No. 15, when the Green Bay Packers are up. And yes, using the TVC, that swap actually matches up.

But the "but'' is a large one, as it means all those teams from 1 through 15 are saying "no'' to "The Bigger Barry Sanders.'' Atlanta at No. 8 says "no'' because they already have Tyler Allgeier? The Bears say "no'' because they already have D'Onta Foreman? The Eagles at No. 10 say "no'' because they already have Rashaad Penny? The Patriots at No. 14 say "no'' because they already have Rhamondre Stevenson?

We don't see it that way. But if ESPN is guessing right here? Yes, just as we've said Dallas will draft Bijan in the wildly unlikely event that he somehow slides all the way to No. 26, if he slides to 15, the price gets that much more right. And Bijan to the 'Boys gets that much more viable.
