#251 Rams - Dakota Allen, LB, Texas Tech
#252 Patriots - Ken Webster, CB, Mississippi
#253 Redskins - Jordan Brailford, EDGE, Oklahoma State
OUTLOOK: A good-looking athlete on the hoof with broad shoulders, a well-built upper body with a tapered middle and a powerful, coordinated lower half. Possesses the quick-twitch explosiveness to beat tackles off the ball with his speed rush, showing burst out of the two and three-point stances. Light on his feet, showing the balance and coordination to change directions easily and accelerate quickly. Plays with a see-the-ball, get-the-ball mentality, showing intriguing aggression and closing speed when he has a direct line, including when racing through gaps as an off-ball linebacker. Converts speed to power as a hitter, generating explosiveness as a hitter with three forced fumbles the past two seasons. A classic 'tweener, lacking the frame to handle full-time duties along the defensive line and showing below average instincts for linebacker. While quick upfield, Brailford shows just average knee bend and flexibility in scraping the corner. Use of hands to defeat blocks is almost non-existent. When blockers get their hands on him, it is usually game over. Too often takes the easy wait in these situations, spinning his way from contact but often away from the ball and therefore if he does get back into position to make the tackle, it is yards downfield It is hard to fault Brailford for opting to declare early for the 2019 NFL Draft given his breakout 2018 campaign and the fact he missed two years (2014 redshirting and 2016 due to medical hardship) but he is more of a middle to late round prospect rather than the early pick his splashy statistics suggest. In terms of his size and athleticism, Brailford looks the part of an NFL linebacker (or third down pass rush specialist) but he'll need to develop greater awareness and technique to handle a full-time role, making him a bit of a project.
#254 Cardinals - Caleb Wilson, TE, UCLA
OUTLOOK: Possesses strong bloodlines, as his father, Chris Wilson was a 12th round draft pick for the Chicago Bears and currently serves as defensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. A former high school quarterback, Caleb, started his college career at Old Dominion as a tight end, he then tried to walk-on at USC as a quarterback when his dad was a coach there. He would finally land at UCLA and switch back to tight end. Wilson seemed to hit his stride this past season, registering career highs across the board with 60 receptions, 965 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It was the type of year that warranted bypassing his senior season and entering the draft.
