2024 NFL Mock Draft: Bears' QB Dilemma, No Defense in the Top 10?

See which QB route the Chicago Bears take in this first-round projection dominated by offense at the top.

The Chicago Bears are staring at quite the quarterback conundrum as they look ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft.

Do they stick with Justin Fields, who has shown flashes of brilliance despite a rocky supporting cast, and continue to build around him? Or do they spend the No. 1 pick on his replacement, with two worthy candidates to choose from in a loaded class?

In the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from Nate Tice at Yahoo Sports, they opt for the latter, and pick North Carolina's Drake Maye over USC's Caleb Williams to replace Fields and reset under center.

That quarterback decision will likely be impacted by how Chicago approaches other offseason decisions, such as whether or not to keep their current coaching staff. If they reset there, as well, the new staff would then get to put Maye and Williams through their paces during the pre-draft process to see which would be the best fit for their scheme.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams

USC's Caleb Williams is battling with UNC's Drake Maye to be the No. 1 pick.

This mock is dominated by offense talent at the top, with no defensive players projected in the top 10.

Four wide receivers come off the board in that range, headlined by Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. (No. 2, Arizona Cardinals) as well as three quarterbacks, with LSU's Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels (No. 4, New England Patriots joining Maye and Williams (No. 3, Washington Commanders) in the top five.

Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins is the first defensive player selected in this mock, landing with the Green Bay Packers at the No. 12 pick.
