Scouting Report

The former Hawaii linebacker should be on the radar of professional teams. Benny plays with a ton of competitive toughness and does not shy away from a moment. His eyes are solid for the position and is able to set the edge or react quickly to the run game. He fills gaps tremendously and finishes plays at the point of contact. He pairs his reaction time with excellent tackling technique that makes him a much needed addition to the middle of a defense. Fonua has some reliable explosiveness and straight line speed that allows him to make plays at a high level when he gets a solid read. Fonua will need to improve his pass coverage a bit, as he does struggle to keep up with shiftier offensive players in man coverage. His change of direction is not his strongest attribute. Fonua still has the skills to play after watching some of his AAF Memphis tape and should be on a professional roster somewhere.

When a NFL scout pops in your game film, explain to us what type of player he should expect to see (provide a self-scouting report).

The type of player he would see is 3 down solid Linebacker. On Run expect to see a down hill thumper. Staying gap and technique sound and attacking O line men and pursuit to the ball. On Pass reading keys and playing high to low. And Man coverage.

What type of leadership intangibles do you bring to the table? Explain your leadership style.

My leadership style is "leading by example". I rather show thru my actions then talk about it. I can. earn my teammates Respect and Loyalty. Then we all can build chemistry and holding each other accountable. Then we have fun on the field and dominate.

Name a point during your college career when you had to overcome adversity. What did you learn from that experience?

When we are playing a game and we are losing. The level of play on our end will start to decrease. The lesson learned was not to stop playing when you are losing because the game can change in your favor at any time.

Growing up in my home town called LAIE.Its located on the North shore of Oahu. Its a country island life style. It was very old school. My single mom and grandma kept us line. Taught us how to work hard and earn a living. This community as well always helps and takes care of each other
