A notable depth piece on the Atlanta Falcons' defense could be on the move this offseason.

Lorenzo Carter has been an important, if understated part of the Atlanta Falcons defense recently.

Over the past two seasons, Carter racked up 93 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and seven sacks. The Atlanta native started all 17 games in 2022, but moved into a rotational role in 2023.

After two seasons in his hometown, though, Carter could be on the move this offseason. Bleacher Report suggested the Miami Dolphins as a possible fit for Carter, should the Falcons actually decide to move him.

"Lorenzo Carter can help [Shaq] Barrett patch up the Dolphins' pass rush," Bleacher Report wrties. "Though he's been an inefficient starter, he carved out a decent role as a rotational defender with the Atlanta Falcons last year...

"As the Falcons go through coaching staff changes, Carter could be available for a sixth-round pick. If that's the case, the Dolphins should inquire about him."

With the Dolphins, Carter would likely be a backup behind Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips. Considering both of those players suffered season-ending injuries late last season, Carter would still have an important role to play in Miami.

If the new coaching staff doesn't see a fit for Carter, shipping him off to gain a bit of extra draft capital could make sense.
