What Maxx Crosby Hopes Las Vegas Raiders Get Out of 2024 NFL Draft

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby looks beyond mere talent when he analyzes draft prospects.

There's been all sorts of speculation concerning what the Las Vegas Raiders will do with their first-round pick and the rest of their draft picks in next week's NFL Draft.

It will obviously come down to Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and his staff, but there's no doubt current players on the roster have their own ideas of what should be done, whether they have said it or not.

Raiders All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby has earned the right to have his voice heard and considered as the leader of the Silver and Black. As a captain, it will be important to Crosby who the team brings in next week.

"Yeah, I think at the end of the day, I look at the things that require zero talent," Crosby told reporters on Monday. "Everybody's talented in the NFL, everyone's got ability. The things that matter to me are dudes that are consistent and they've got relentless effort, dudes that are curious and continuously looking to find ways to improve. That's the dudes that I look at. I don't give a [expletive] if you went to Alaska State Technical Institute or Nebraska or LSU, none of that matters.

"At the end of the day, I want dudes who love this [expletive], and you can't fake it. Andre Carter said it in our meeting today, he was like, 'Listen, you could say you're all this and this and that,' he goes, 'When I turn the film on you're either a dog or you're not.' When people turn my film on, they know exactly what the hell I am. I have no doubt I can put my film in a middle school, an elementary school, an NFL meeting, a Hall of Fame meeting, they're going to see a dog. So that's the guys I'm looking for.

"Guys like [Braden] Fiske from Florida State, I watch a dude like him, he's a dog, I know he's a dog. There's a few other guys, [Laiatu] Latu, I like from UCLA, young kid, dudes a dog. There's not many of them out there, so that's what I look for when I'm watching film. I don't give a [expletive] if you can rush, got ability, whatever. The first thing I'm looking at is are they flying to the ball, not just running to the ball but flying to the ball, putting their body on the line and all the rest of the stuff you clean it up on the way, but I think it was just starts with effort and effort and consistency.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the No. 13 overall pick.
