Could Rams Target Bears Free Agent Cornerback Jaylon Johnson?

The Los Angeles Rams could sign a big name in free agency to help their passing defense and help them contend next season.

The Los Angeles Rams' passing defense left a bit to be desired this season, so the team could be looking to sign a name in free agency to help the secondary.

The team could use a corner or safety to help the defense over the top, and according to Brad Spielberger of PFF, the best corner that is available in free agency is Chicago Bears star Jaylon Johnson.

"Johnson continued to push for a new deal right up to requesting a trade at the deadline this year, but after conversations with other teams, Chicago elected to keep him around," Spielberger writes. "The physical, technically sound wide cornerback boasts ball production and lockdown coverage abilities that prevent targets as well as anyone, never allowing a 60% completion rate in any NFL season thus far."

The 24-year-old corner had a great year this season, making the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro Second Team. He was one of the bright spots for the 7-10 Bears, as the defense was their strong suit this season.

Johnson also finished the season tied for fifth in the league in interceptions with four, and he took one of those all the way to the house.

The young corner could be an intriguing fit for the Rams, as he is a big corner, having around the same height and weight as former Ram, Jalen Ramsey. If the team were to go for Johnson, the team would have its next solidified best cornerback.

But whether the team decides to go for someone in free agency, or make a trade, the secondary is something that needs to be addressed if the team wants to contend next season.
