Details Emerge on Steelers Contract With Van Jefferson

The Pittsburgh Steelers inked the veteran wideout to a one-year deal with a low cap hit.

ORLANDO -- Details of the Pittsburgh Steelers contract with veteran wide receiver Van Jefferson have now been released, detailing the value of the one-year deal they put on the former Los Angeles Ram.

According to OverTheCap, the Steelers signed Jefferson to a one-year deal worth $1.2925 million with a base salary of $1.125 million and a $167,500 signing bonus. As a veteran benefit contract, only $985,000 will count toward the team's salary cap, plus his signing bonus.

His official cap hit in 2024 is $1.1525 million.

Jefferson will compete for a depth spot in Pittsburgh this summer, looking to earn one of the final roster positions at wide receiver. While he doesn't hold much competition at this time, the Steelers are expected to continue adding to their wideout room, leaving no guarantee for Jefferson.

He'll likely compete with Quez Watkins, Dez Fitzpatrick and others one of the final roster spots. The veteran totaled 209 yards and no touchdowns last season playing for both the Rams and Atlanta Falcons. In his four-year career, he's tallied 113 receptions for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns.
