Steelers Re-Sign CB James Pierre

The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back their developing corner.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back cornerback James Pierre on a one-year deal, the team announced.

Pierre's new deal with the Steelers will have him return for his fourth season in Pittsburgh. Since signing as an undrafted free agent out Florida Atlantic in 2020, Pierre has played 50 games, including six starts for the black and gold. He'll return for at least another season.

The Steelers once viewed Pierre as their next outside cornerback in 2021, allowing him to start four games in just his second NFL season. Unfortunately, he never caught on as a starter-caliber player for Pittsburgh as has played a depth role ever since. He's still just 26 years old.

Even in limited time, Pierre has still recorded two interceptions, eight pass deflections and 86 tackles.

He now re-joins Levi Wallace, Ahkello Witherspoon and Arthur Maulet for another season in Pittsburgh, and will spend his first year with newly-signed cornerback Patrick Peterson.
