Steelers Looking Local for Rookie CB

The Pittsburgh Steelers could go next door for their next cornerback.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking local for a potential cornerback addition, scheduling a pre-draft visit with Pitt standout M.J. Devonshire, according to Steelers Now's Alan Saunders.

Devonshire spent the last three years at Pitt after transfering from Kentucky. He finished his career with eight intercpetions, all coming with the Panthers, and four came during the 2023 season. He's also recorded 89 tackles, 23 pass deflections and has scored three touchdowns.

The Steelers currently have two starting cornerbacks in Joey Porter Jr. and Donte Jackson, with second-year players Darius Rush and Cory Trice Jr. on the roster as well. The addition of Devonshire could add more depth with growing potential, soldifying a young core for the future.

Devonshire could find himself as a mid-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. The former four-star recruit out of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania may be the next Pitt target for the Steelers, who have gotten plenty of time over the last three seasons to familiarize themselves with him.

Pittsburgh will likely add a slot cornerback to their roster before the end of the offseason as well. If Devonshire does end up staying in the city, he'd have an opporunity to compete for a contibuting role off the bench as a rookie.
