Steelers Working on Something for Both QBs

The Pittsburgh Steelers have something cooking for their new quarterbacks. Both of them.

ORLANDO -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have two new quarterbacks, and despite those in the media and fanbase focusing on who will start in Week 1, the team itself is starting to prepare to utilize both in their offense.

Speaking with NFL Network at the 2024 NFL Meetings, general manager Omar Khan said offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has some exciting plans for both of their new quarterbacks.

"We’re excited to have Arthur Smith on board and some of the new coaches,” Khan said. "Confident they’re going to really find some cool stuff for both those guys to do."

The Steelers have options. Both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields have the ability to run, and Fields nearly broke the quarterback rushing record two years ago. So, if they want to add in some "cool" packages for both players, they have the option to.

As of now, Wilson is expected to be the starter at the start of the season, but with Fields being 25 years old and having plenty of potential ahead of him, Pittsburgh could try to get him on the field as much as they can to continue his development.

Things are already exciting with a new play-caller and two new quarterbacks this season, and the Steelers seem prepared to shake things up as much as possible.
