Steelers Sign Former Falcons TE

The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing another weapon over from Atlanta.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing another name from the Atlanta Falcons over to the AFC, agreeing to terms with tight end MyCole Pruitt, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Pruitt, 32, was a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He spent time with the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans before joining forces with Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Tennessee. After four years with the Titans, he continued to move with Smith, spending the last two seasons in Atlanta.

Last season, Pruitt caught nine passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. In nine years in the league, he's accumulated 748 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Steelers are adding Pruitt to a tight end room with Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, Connor Heyward and Rodney Williams. All whom finished on the 53-man roster last season. He'll have an opportunity to make the active roster this season, utilizing his 6'2, 245-pound frame to contribute to what's expected to be a run-heavy offense.
