Predicting Avalanche Star Martin Necas' Stats for the 2026-27 Season
When Martin Necas entered his first full season with the Colorado Avalanche, there were some high expectations. He exceeded them.
During the 2024-25 campaign, Necas put up 83 points split between Colorado and Carolina. The following year, he took a big step forward when he appeared in 78 games for the Avalanche and earned 100 points with 38 goals and 62 assists.
Now comes the hard part. Can he do it again?
The truth is, expecting him to repeat that feat is probably ambitious. Necas had never even approached 100 points in his career before last year. The fit with the Avalanche was perfect, though, and he had a lot of chemistry with Nathan MacKinnon. That kind of environment is conducive to successful offensive campaigns, and Necas took full advantage of it.
The prediction for this year shows that he is going to come incredibly close again and that his season last year wasn’t an outlier in his career.
Colorado Has Unlocked a New Level
Necas doesn’t really look like the same player he was in Carolina. He had already established himself as a quality offensive player before he arrived in Colorado, but when he arrived, things changed.
In his first 30 games with his new team he scored 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points. What happened next? A breakout.
Shattering his career-high stats, Necas recorded a 100-point season. His 38 goals were also more than he has ever scored in a year in the NHL.
Colorado’s style and speed just fit his strengths, and being surrounded by this team certainly brought out the best in him. His ability to create offense both with and without the puck really shined last year. When you have several talented players who are threats, the defense has to spread out, and that gives everyone more opportunity to score.
100 Points Will Be Difficult
There are obvious reasons that a 100-point season is something to celebrate. It is hard to accomplish and even harder to repeat.
Necas played at a pace of 1.28 points per game in the 2025-26 season, a clear jump from anything he has ever produced before.
Expecting some regression is just normal and not surprising. It doesn’t mean that he has lost a step or even taken a step backward; it is just plain and simple reality.
The Avalanche are full of offensive weapons and the increased depth they have could spread out the production throughout the lineup. MacKinnon and Necas may not have to shoulder as much of the scoring burden this year.
That’s why I am predicting Necas to fall just short of the triple digits he obtained last year.
Could 40 Goals Be Next?
Necas finished the year just two goals short of the 40 mark last year. I think he can improve on that. He’s got a full year now under his belt and he has established chemistry with his teammates.
If he just maintains his scoring pace from last year and remains healthy all year, 40 goals is a very reasonable challenge. It would be yet another career high and should place him where he belongs with the NHL’s premier offensive forwards.

Here is my realistic projection for Necas in 2026-27:
- Games: 80
- Goals: 40
- Assists: 59
- Points: 99
- Plus/Minus: +39
- Power-play goals: 11
- Game-winning goals: 6
Missing that 100 mark by one goal is not regression; in fact, it is quite the opposite. We believe in Necas and understand that last year wasn’t a fluke. He is going to put an exclamation point on his career and show that Colorado can reasonably count on him to produce these numbers every year.
Colorado knows the kind of player they have. They didn’t take any chances, either. The organization signed him to an eight-year contract extension, which ensures that he is going to be a long-term part of this team’s core.
Last season was about setting records for Necas. This year it’s about proving he can stay there.
