NY Rangers Star Keeps Impressive Points Streak Alive Despite Loss

The New York Rangers were unable to keep their winning streak alive and play spoiler against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, but one of their top players was able to continue an impressive streak.
Following some good hockey to end the month, the Rangers were unable to carry over a modest winning streak into April. In their matchup against the Canadiens, the team was undoubtedly trying to play a little bit of spoiler with the hopes of finishing the campaign on a high note.
However, in the matchup against Montreal, they were defeated by a score of 3-2. It was a bit of a tough night in net for Igor Shesterkin, who allowed three goals on just 25 shots.
It was the young star of the Canadiens, Cole Caufield, who was the difference maker in the game with two goals, including the one that was the eventual game winner for Montreal.
Despite being down 2-0, some credit should go to New York for fighting back in this one. As the season comes to a close, these types of effort are important when it comes to building a culture for next year. Despite the loss, one of their top players was able to keep an impressive streak going.
Adam Fox Keeps Points Streak Alive
When things are going well, Fox can be one of the best offensive defensemen in the entire NHL. With Fox missing time this year because of injuries, it is no surprise that it has had a negative impact on the team. However, when on the ice, he has played well for the Blueshirts this season.
So far in the 2025-26 campaign, he has totaled 45 points in 49 games with seven goals and 38 assists. In terms of his points per game, they are right on par with his career averages, he just has unfortunately missed time.
In the loss to the Canadiens, he was able to record that seventh goal of the season, which also pushed his points streak to five games. During the five-game points streak, he has totaled two goals and six assists.
While Fox is known as more of a passer and facilitator than a scorer, he has had success of late finding the back of the net. Overall, this campaign has undoubtedly been a frustrating one for the 28-year-old, however, he has played well of late and that is a good way to end the season on a positive note.
