Phil Mickelson’s Message About 90-Year-Old Father Resurfaces After Masters Withdrawal

Arguably the greatest golfer of all time (certainly the most popular and most successful financially), Tiger Woods, will not be competing in The Masters later this month, as he's choosing to focus on his health and well-being.
And the golf world learned that Phil Mickelson, who is arguably the second-most popular golfer of all time (certainly in the modern era), will not be competing in The Masters either, which he revealed with an Instagram post on April 2.

Mickelson's announcement featured a graphic that read, "Unfortunately, I will not play in the Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter.
"I have great respect for Augusta National Golf Club, and it is definitely the most special week of the year. I wish everyone the best of luck and will be watching," the post continued, which already has over 33,000 likes in less than four hours.
There currently isn't any additional information about what Mickelson might be referring to, as he and his family have chosen not to disclose additional information at this time.
It is public information that Mickelson's wife, Amy, battled cancer after she was diagnosed in May of 2009, but ultimately beat the disease. His mother, Mary, has also been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past, but she was able to overcome the disease as well.
Of course, the hope is that nobody in Mickelson's family is dealing with anything serious, and it's up to the Mickelson family's discretion for what they want to share with the world amid what's surely a trying time.

Phil Mickelson's Awesome Message About His Father Resurfaces After Masters Announcement
Mickelson's father, Phil Sr., has always been a heartwarming member of the golf community. He has often been present for his son's successes on the course, despite now being 90 years old.
Over two years ago, Mickelson shared a video of his father hitting a ball on the golf course. The post was captioned, "Today was a great day. My dad is 88 and am so appreciative I still get to play golf with him. Btw, he shoots his age almost every time. Amazing".
All indications are that Mickelson's father is still alive and well. Whatever Mickelson and his family are going through, fans can direct their thoughts to everybody winding up healthy as can be.
