In this story:

We’re a week into the MLB regular season and players have already set themselves apart from a production standpoint. Fantasy managers could capitalize on their value and shop potential returns in the trade market. Selling high is an optimal route for managers to acquire valuable assets or address positions of need through trades. Sell-high candidates include players flashing upward trends of production who may not sustain their elevated volume throughout the entirety of the season. Let’s look at three sell-high candidates for fantasy baseball managers to consider early in the regular season:

Chase DeLauter, Cleveland Guardians (OF, DH)

Cleveland Guardians rookie Chase DeLauter is off to arguably the hottest start of any player in the American League this season. DeLauter has suited up in each of Cleveland’s first six games, posting five runs, six hits, four home runs and five RBIs. He’s sustaining encouraging efficiency with a .273 batting average and a .818 SLG. The rookie will garner significant trade interest in fantasy and could be moved for a reliable veteran asset. It’s hard to project DeLauter sustaining such high-end production for the entirety of his first major league season, though his output to this point of the season is worth noting. The former first-round pick suffered an apparent foot injury during Wednesday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers and should be monitored in fantasy over the immediate future.

The New York Mets made an aggressive move ahead of the season, trading for Luis Robert Jr. in a deal with the Chicago White Sox. Robert is off to an encouraging start to the 2026 campaign, though questions remain regarding the sustainability of his fantasy output. Through five games, the 2023 All-Star is hitting .333 from the plate, racking up three runs, five hits, a homer and five RBIs with a 1.007 OPS. Robert has struggled to recapture his 2023 production over recent years, a trend that could persist in 2026 despite his hot start. His fantasy stock is climbing and his trade value is high early in the season. Considering his string of injuries and inconsistent play over the past few seasons, managers should keep an open mind on a potential fantasy trade involving Robert. For his asking price, managers could find greater consistency and sustained production in a potential return.

Luke Raley, Seattle Mariners (OF)

Luke Raley has emerged as a pleasant surprise for the Seattle Mariners to start the 2026 season. He’s already nearly eclipsed his home run mark for the entire 2025 campaign and is rapidly bolstering his fantasy stock. Over four games this season, Raley is hitting .286 with three runs, four hits, three homers and six RBIs. The 31-year-old showed out during Spring Training and has carried such momentum into the regular season on the way to a remarkable start to the year. Raley won’t possess the same value as Robert or DeLauter in the trade market among fantasy leagues, but could still garner a significant haul considering his ADP coming into the season. Managers could move Raley for a more proven asset while his trade value remains elevated.
