When speaking about the Redskins' coaching search on Saturday, Washington backup quarterback Kirk Cousins said Robert Griffin III would "have a lot of input as to who the hire is," according ESPN's Adam Schefter.

But team spokesman Tony Wyllie told Pro Football Talk that general manager Bruce Allen has previously said Griffin won't be involved in the process, a plan Allen will stick to.

Speculation about Griffin being involved isn't unfounded. Griffin reportedly has a close relationship with owner Daniel Snyder, and head coach Mike Shanahan thought about resigning because of it.

But that wasn't necessary, as Shanahan was fired on Dec. 30, shortly after he benched Griffin for the final three games of the year.
