Anthony Edwards to Represent Georgia in the NBA All-Star Game

It has been a while since Georgia was represented in the NBA All-Star game before Anthony Edwards, but he will do it again this year.

When you think of premiere programs that produce NBA talent, your mind turns to the Blue Bloods of college basketball. Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, and UCLA all come to mind, but not the Georgia Bulldogs. In the past, Dominique Wilkins was one of the main players who came to mind to represent Georgia in an All-Star game, but he has a new successor. 

The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft is none other than Atlanta's own, Anthony Edwards. Since joining the Timberwolves, he has put on a highlight reel. Earning himself an NBA All-Rookie First-Team (2020), the "Ant-Man" has now secured himself his second All-Star selection in his short caareer (2023, 2024).

Edwards paired with Karl Anthony-Towns has been absurd this year in Minnesota, leading them to a tie for first place in the Western Conference with the Oklahoma City Thunder. So far this season he is ranked 14th in the NBA in terms of points per game; averaging 25.6 points per game, 5.1 rebounds and assists per game, ith a 46.6% FG percantage, and is shooting 38.9% from the three point line. 

Aside from being a reserve for the Western Conference team coached by the Timberwolves head coach, Chris Finch, Edwards will be competiting for a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics for Team USA as they look to continue their reign of dominance over the basketball world. When the NBA Al-Star break approaches on February 15th there will be plenty of events for fans to tune in and watch as the league's best players compete in Indianapolis.
