Jordan Ross is down to eight schools, and Alabama football stands among them.

Ross, a 6-foot-5-inch, 215-pound edge rusher from Vestavia Hills, Ala., is a consensus 4-star recruit in the 2024 class, including a 5-star rating from 247Sports. He is the No. 39 prospect in the class, the No. 4 edge rusher and the No. 5 player in the state of Alabama.

In addition to Alabama, Ross is also considering Texas, LSU, USC, Georgia, Florida, Oregon and Tennessee.

On tape, what immediately sticks out about Ross is his ability to shed blockers with ease and pursue the ball carrier. He'll meet the blocker head-on but is quick to disengage once he sees the runner take off. At that point, he has the athleticism to be a sideline-to-sideline player.

Ross could be a great edge rusher at the next level, but because he is so good at pursuing the ball, there is potential for him to become a pure outside linebacker. His versatility will help him be a major contributor sooner than later at the next level.

Earlier today, 4-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton also included Alabama in his final choices, with the other school being future SEC rival Texas. The 2024 recruiting class is shaping up to potentially be another gold mine of talent, and this is on the heels of the 2023 class, which many consider one of the best classes in program history.

It is worth saying that edge rusher is  pretty loaded at Alabama long-term, and Ross is well aware of that should he choose to commit to Nick Saban and Co.
