Week 3 of SEC football has reached its conclusion, and the updated SEC Power Rankings are here.

Barring the Florida vs Kentucky matchup, the weekend lacked its usual luster. While Week 3 opened SEC play, there were only two matchups between SEC teams, with the other 10 teams facing non-conference opponents.

Consequently, there were only two changes in the power rankings: Missouri and South Carolina swapped places and Mississippi State dropping two spots after losing at home to Kansas State.

While South Carolina lost, the Gamecocks impressed against a ferocious No. 2 Alabama.

Mississippi State, however, doesn’t have a legitimate excuse.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow continues to keep his promise of 50 to 60 points per game for his offense. While it is tempting to move LSU up to the second spot in our rankings, it must be remembered that Northwestern State is an FCS school, so scoring over 60 points is not incredibly unexpected.

Vanderbilt had a bye week before facing LSU, so expect it to potentially drop to last place next week and remain winless on the season. For now, the Commodores remain locked in the 13th spot, with Tennessee remaining in the cellar. Remember, Power Rankings are meant to depict where teams are currently ranked, not where they’re projected to end up.
