Week 2 of SEC football is over, and now that the smoke has cleared, it’s now that time of the week to organize the teams into order.

After a brutal Week 1 for the SEC, Week 2 was far more predictable. The top four remain unchanged going into Week 3. Alabama and Georgia continued to do what they consistently do in destroying non-Power Five conference opponents.

Texas A&M fell on the road to Clemson, but that’s a place that anyone on this list could potentially lose. This season, there is a dramatic split between the top four teams in the SEC and the rest of the conference.

Dropping the Aggies below fourth at this point in the season just doesn’t seem right.

LSU proved that it is a very good football team in Austin on Saturday night. However, it wouldn’t be fair to move it above Alabama or Georgia until the top two teams face quality opponents.

The Tigers' standing could improve with SEC play beginning next week, but the they're solidly in control of their own destiny at this point in the season.

The rest of the rankings are what is to be expected after only several weeks of football. One thing of note is Tennessee’s drop to the last spot. Going 0-2 to start the season — with both games being in Neyland Stadium against unranked opponents — is not a good look for the Volunteers. While the other teams below fourth place could be interchangeable in places, Tennessee is deservedly in last place.
