Nick Saban to CBS Sports HQ: “He’s practiced really well this week. I think he’s got short-area quickness and can play well in the pocket. It hasn’t affected his throwing at all, so we’re going to make a game-time decision. I’m going to talk to him today. I think he’s comfortable and confident with what he’s been able to do, so we’ll just see how it goes.”

• Sophomore Drew Williamson’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10 gave the Gray squad a 4-3 victory over the Crimson in the Alabama baseball team’s Fall World Series. Senior Justin King had a game-high two RBIs. Jim Jarvis and Williams Hamiter both had two hits. “Today was a really good way to finish our fall team segment with a highly energetic, very competitive scrimmage,” Crimson Tide coach Brad Bohannon said. “We threw a lot of strikes, defended the field really well and manufactured some runs. The kids focused at a high level for 10 innings while playing loose, and I’m hopeful that we can bring that mentality to the park consistently in the Spring.”

• Alabama took Missouri past the 15-point mark in the fifth set (which is equivalent of overtime), but was edged out by the Tigers (15-6, 7-4 SEC) at Foster Auditorium. Alabama (12-10, 4-7 SEC) had a season-high 19 blocks and nine service aces. Junior Doris Carter had 18 kills, while graduate transfer Eva Borrowdale notched 12, and junior Meghan Neelon earned her first double-double of the season with 25 assists and 10 digs. “Obviously we’re disappointed, it hurts when you lose," Crimson Tide coach Lindsey Devine said in a release. "We battled hard and were on the edge of taking a victory where one or two points here and there could have made the difference. Our focus went in a different direction and that was the difference between us finishing it out and coming just short.”

• Former Alabama soccer standout Abbie Boswell signed a contract with Emek Hefer, a first division premiere soccer team in Kfar Monash, Israel.

On this date in Crimson Tide history:

November 9, 1968: Scott Hunter went 13-for-22 for 232 yards, with touchdown passes to Pete Jilleba and Donnie Sutton, as Alabama defeated LSU 16-7 at Legion Field.

November 9, 2013: Although Alabama-LSU had turned into a fierce rivalry since Nick Saban joined the Crimson Tide, the home-team dominated as AJ McCarron threw three touchdown passes and T.J. Yeldon tallied 133 rushing yards and two scores for a 38-17 victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium. In the process, McCarron overtook John Parker Wilson as Alabama's top all-time career passer.

Crimson Tide quote of the day:

"All he does is win and does what his team needs for him to do. I think the guy is the best quarterback in the country." – Nick Saban about AJ McCarron after Alabama defeated LSU on his date in 2013.

We’ll leave you with this …

From the University of Alabama:

Saturday’s screening process at Bryant-Denny Stadium will differ in some ways due to the heightened security, therefore ticketholders are highly encouraged to be in line for entry no later than 1 p.m. To help accommodate, gates will open at 11:30 a.m., three hours prior to kickoff.

Fans should be prepared to remove all items from pockets and any pinned-on buttons or larger jewelry, similar to when passing through airport security, before entering. It is recommended that any non-essentials be left at home or in vehicles. Shoes and belts can remain on during screening. If one should set off the walkthrough metal detector, a wand will be used to the side.
