The Extra Point: Alabama Baseball's Hot Start

The Crimson Tide is nationally ranked and undefeated to start 2023.

Alabama baseball and head coach Brad Bohannon have had an excellent start to their 2023 campaign.

After coming into the season ranked No. 20 in preseason polls, there was a lot to live up to for a team that has had a tendency to underperform in the past decade.

So far, the Crimson Tide is living up to the hype.

Alabama currently sits with a 9-0 record, having swept both Richmond and High Point in their respective series and securing midweek wins over the likes of Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin and most recently Jacksonville State.

Alabama is one of just nine undefeated teams left in college baseball.

While the competition hasn't been the most stellar, the Crimson Tide has taken care of business and proved deserving of its ranking so far.

Graduate student Drew Williamson has been a standout for Alabama thus far as far as batting is concerned. The Brewton, Alabama native has started every game and has a batting average of .517 while leading the team in home runs with four and RBIs with 14. He also has the second most hits on the team.

Additionally, junior Andrew Pinckney has started every game and posted a batting average of .485, while leading the lead with 16 hits.

The Crimson Tide will get another chance to improve on its undefeated record this weekend with a series against UIC.
