The 2024 SEC Tournament gets kicked off on Wednesday with the bottom four teams in the conference trying to start a miraculous run. "The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" is joined by the winningest basketball coach in Alabama history, Wimp Sanderson, to talk about the tournament, his experience and more.

Sanderson won five SEC Tournament titles with his first coming in his second year in charge in 1982. He recalls defeating Kentucky in Rupp Arena by two points in the championship game as Eddie Phillips recovered an air ball by Ennis Whatley for the game-winning bucket.

The legendary coach reveals some of his strategies for how he approached the SEC Tournament when he was leading the program. Alabama made the tournament's championship game nine times during his 12 year tenure, winning three in a row from 1989-91.

Sanderson discusses this year's tournament field with Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama earning the top three seed in the draw. He helps us look into some of the Crimson Tide's shortcomings this season and how they can overcome that going forward in postseason play.

We discuss the greatest SEC Tournament game ever played, NCAA Tournament seeding and how Mark Sears would have fit into the Sanderson-era with the legendary Crimson Tide basketball coach.

Lastly we make our picks for Wednesday's matchups between Vanderbilt and Arkansas and Missouri and Georgia as the tournament gets underway in Nashville.
