The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball program adds another piece from the reigning Big 10 Champion Maryland Terrapins.

Rising junior outfielder Ian Petrutz took to social media on Tuesday to announce his intentions to transfer to Tuscaloosa and continue his baseball career with the Crimson Tide.

Petrutz joins new Alabama head coach Rob Vaughn and assistant coach Anthony Papio as College Park defectors.

In 92 career games played for the Terrapins, Petrutz has managed a .288 batting average with 23 homeruns and 91 RBIs. He's also drawn 62 career walks, giving him a career on-base percentage of .420.

He's primarily appeared as a designated hitter for the Terrapins throughout two seasons, making just 13 career putouts, but maintaining a perfect fielding percentage.

He's earned two honors so far in his college career, both coming in 2022. He earned Big 10 Freshman of the Week once and was also named to the 2022 NCAA College Park Regional All-Tournament Team.

Petrutz has two seasons of eligibility remaining. The left-hander joins Evan Sleight and Bryce Eblin as players to join the Crimson Tide out of the transfer portal.
