The Extra Point: What's Wrong With Alabama Basketball's Defense?

After a brutal 117-95 loss in Lexington, the BamaCentral staff gives their thoughts and takeaways.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's basketball team has kept up its high rate of scoring en route to remaining one of the best offenses in the country. To the ire of head coach Nate Oats, the defense hasn't followed. Guarding has been an issue all season, but things took an ugly turn Saturday in a 117-95 loss to Kentucky inside Rupp Arena.

While the Wildcats shot the ball well, that wasn't the only issue of the afternoon for the Crimson Tide. Time after time, the defensive side of the ball has left questions. Alabama has found success against other good offensive teams (such as the recent overtime victory against Florida), bur faltered this past weekend when the makes were coming frequently for the opposing side.

Watch the video at the top of the page as BamaCentral's Mathey Gibson and Will Miller discuss their reactions to Alabama's 117-95 loss to Kentucky, and what it means for the Crimson Tide moving forward.
