The next Alabama football player has made a decision regarding his future as the 2023 season comes to a close.

Alabama senior running back Roydell Williams has entered the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Williams served as the Tide's No 2 running back throughout 2023 season, backing up starter Jase McClellan. He still may return to the Crimson Tide program but for now will explore his options in the transfer portal.

The 5-10, 215-pound tailback is part of the final class in college to receive an extra season of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He appeared in all 14 games for the Tide in 2023 and amassed 560 yards rushing on 111 carries with five touchdowns while adding another touchdown receiving. One of his main strengths has come on special teams as he's appeared on kickoff coverage and return. Williams chipped in for four tackles this year on special teams.

Across 45 games of action he tallied 1165 yards and 11 touchdowns while hauling in 152 yards through the air with two scores.

The former Hueytown High School Golden Gopher came to Alabama as a 4-star recruit.

With his departure the Tide returns JAM Miller, Justice Haynes, Richard Young and incoming freshman running back Kevin Riley to its running back room in 2024.

Alabama players have another day and a half to enter the transfer portal if they so choose as the Tide had five days after the conclusion of the season to make that choice. He becomes Alabama's 16 player to enter the portal.
