TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The transfer portal continues to tear down Alabama football's roster.

On Wednesday morning, On3 reported that freshman left tackle Kadyn Proctor plans to enter the transfer portal after starting for the Crimson Tide as a freshman.

Proctor was a 5-star recruit in Alabama's 2022 recruiting class, and won the starting left tackle position in fall camp. Though there was an ongoing position battle for a few weeks, he never lost his starting spot.

By season's end, Proctor was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team by the coaches of the league.

Proctor is the 26th Alabama player to enter the portal since the Crimson Tide's season ended in a Rose Bowl loss, and he's the second starting offensive lineman to take his talents elsewhere. Reserve offensive linemen Anquin Barnes Jr. (Colorado) and Terrence Ferguson (Florida State) have found new destinations, as well as starting center Seth McLaughlin, who transferred to Ohio State.

Proctor's exit means there are only two returning offensive linemen from Alabama's starting unit in 2023: left guard Tyler Booker, one of the leaders of not only the offensive line, but the whole team, and right guard Jaeden Roberts, who won the starting job halfway through the season.

It would not be shocking to see Alabama hit the portal to fill its needs on the offensive line. There are multiple offensive linemen from Washington currently in the portal, and that unit won the Joe Moore Award for the best offensive line in college football in 2023. Not only did Alabama hire their head coach in Kalen DeBoer, but DeBoer is expected to also bring with him Scott Huff, Washington's offensive line coach.
