Nick Saban knows the NFL.

Saban has sent a vast number of players to the league — and now that money is in college football, he believes there's something to take from how things are done at the highest level of football.

At the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Fla., Saban voiced his support for an NFL-type model in college football when it comes to NIL.

"Unionize it, make it like the NFL," Saban said. "Make it the same for everyone. Everything they do for NFL is to create parity. If they have every team at 8-8 going into final week of the season, the NFL would love it."

Another point of emphasis this week is the future of scheduling in the SEC when Texas and Oklahoma join the conference. How many SEC games will each team play? Eight is the current number — but it could be moved to nine before too long.

"Things go into this like TV contracts," Saban said. "I'm sure a lot of those things will factor into it. I've always been in favor of playing all games against Power 5 opponents."

There will be much more regarding the changes the conference will undertake over the next couple of years.

Football season is right around the corner — 2023 SEC Media Days will take place in Nashville, Tenn. from July 17-20.
