ASU 2022 Target Kevin Thomas Opens Up About His Offer From the Sun Devils
Arizona State continues what has been a very busy recruiting period for Sun Devil football after offering class of 2022 WR Kevin Thomas. Thomas, a 6-3 185 lb wide receiver from Neumann Goretti High School in Haverford, PA, is also a track and field All-American. Thomas says he’s been in contact with ASU’s track staff, and that’s how he began talks with the Sun Devils football program.
“I was super excited” said Thomas on being offered by ASU. “I’ve been in contact with their track coach and he said they were interested and I’ve been on their radar for a minute, so he gave my coach Antonio Pierce’s number and we talked for a while and at the end he said he wanted to offer me a scholarship.”
Pierce, ASU’s co-defensive coordinator, has experience at the next level with nine year career in the NFL, a common theme sprinkled across the coaching staff. Thomas recognizes the Sun Devil staff has what it takes to potentially get him to the next level.
“I just know they have a great coaching staff that develops guys on and off the field and that’s important to me. Also their head coach (Herm Edwards) is an NFL legend so I know that he knows what he’s doing” said Thomas.
Thomas currently has nine other offers on the table at this time: Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia.
When it comes to what Thomas looks for in a school, it’s apparent he’s looking to become better on the field, in the classroom, and any other facet of life possible. Thomas on what matters most to him during his recruitment:
“Somewhere that will develop me on and off the field” said Thomas. “Somewhere that’s big on family, also if I decide to run track somewhere that can support me running track and playing football with no problem.”
The Sun Devils should be able to meet said criteria, although Thomas isn’t expected to make a decision soon.
