Razorbacks Will Receive Visit From McDonald’s All-American
Calipari effect in full force with one of nation’s top prospects visiting soon
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Former Indiana commit Liam McNeeley is looking at the Razorbacks following the John Calipari hire, per Easton May.
McNeeley is considered one of the top prospects in the 2024 class. He is a consensus 5-star and ranked as the No. 15 prospect, according to 247sports composite ranking system.
While he is in no rush to begin official visits, he plans to start after April 21 following the EYBL’s Jordan Brand Classic. Schools that have been speaking with McNeeley are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan, and two-time defending national champions UConn, per Paul Biancardi of ESPN.
The Razorbacks sent an initial offer while former coach Eric Musselman was in charge in December of 2022. However, the 6-foot-7, 210 pound small forward chose not to use an official visit on Arkansas.
The first recruiting race for McNeeley was between Kansas and Indiana. He signed with the Hoosiers Nov. 8, 2023 and committed exactly four months later.
As a senior at Montverde Academy, McNeeley averaged 13 points per game over 33 appearances. He is a complete team player averaging four rebounds, three assists and one steal per game.
NBA Draft Room is high on the Richardson, Texas native and considers him one of the best pure shooters in the class.
"McNeeley is a sturdy, strong combo forward with big-time 3-point shooting ability. He’s got an easy, smooth release on his jumper and is deadly accurate from outside. Doesn’t need a lot of touches to score a lot of points.
"He’s got really good defensive instincts and abilities. Can guard up and down the lineup, 2 through 4. Isn’t the flashiest or most bouncy athlete but has plenty of speed, quickness and a lot of natural strength."
The Razorbacks currently have 13 roster spots available after Musselman's departure. Five players from last season graduated or had their eligibility expire while the seven others entered the transfer portal including top guards Khalif Battle and Tramon Mark. Former power forward Trevon Brazile decided to enter the NBA Draft after three seasons at the collegiate level.
